Program note: 23 is inspired by Bangkok landscapes. The opening gesture contains all the material of the piece. The contrasting elements present here will be reconstructed little by little and expanded in a non linear way. The reconstruction is frequently interrupted by flashbacks and premonitions. The particular instrumentation of the saxophone sextet undergoes different treatments. Different combinations, such as playing as a whole, playing individually, and playing as a triple duo are employed, as the saxophones, with their particular timbre, recollect the original gesture.

This piece is warmly dedicated to Nitchan Pitayathorn.
