Program note: This piece was written in memoriam of my friend Nathalie Chung Hung Tseung who died in 2011. The inspiration for this piece came from her last series of pictures called A la poursuite de plume. Itʼs an introspection into the soul of a tormented artist and a fight which takes place in our spirit between hope and pain. As a tribute, the melodic material comes from her name through the three movements of the piece and the two interludes. The air sound, an important element of this piece, allows for the connection between the spirit and the body, and symbolizes the passing of life to another world as a perpetual cycle.
